Monitoring a patient's vital signs at home and transmitting the information to a caregiver in another location is a fast growing emerging service. It allows a medical professional to examine a patient 'virtually' and prescribe treatment without the need for either the patient or the doctor to travel. This has major cost benefits for the health sector and can contribute to reduced hospital stays, waiting lists and the associated costs.
